We Need you

There are more than 12,000 foster children in Los Angeles County right now who need a loving family to provide a safe home for them.

Children in Need

Every year, there are thousands of children in need of a loving, forever home.

Children from our communities and neighborhoods have been separated from their families and have nowhere else to go. Los Angeles County needs more Latino and Spanish-speaking families to step forward and become foster parents to these children.

Becoming Family

We know one of the most important things for a child or youth in foster care is having one adult who cares - it can change their life. When a child is removed from a parents' home for any reason, it can be very traumatic for them.

By placing the child with a foster family that is familiar with or shares the same language or culture, we can greatly help them respond to their changing worlds and improve their life-long outcomes. If you can provide a safe, stable and, above all, loving home for a child in need, then being a foster family may be right for you!

Eligibility

In order to be eligible, you must be a Los Angeles County resident of least 18 years of age, and you must complete the Resource Family Approval (RFA) process. You can also choose to foster or adopt through a Foster Family Agency. Families who do not live in Los Angeles County but would like to become a resource family for a child in Los Angeles County cannot foster or adopt through the Dept. of Children and Family Services, but you can work with a Foster Family Agency.

There is no minimum income as long as you can support yourself and provide a safe home for yourself and a child. The RFA process is free with the exception of medical screenings. Your RFA social worker can help you identify free or low-cost medical screening options.
